It was wonderful to be asked to work for aspirational hotel and travel company, Belmond.
The brief was to create some hand drawn lettering for a series of five advertisements for magazines, such as Condé Nast Traveller, Harper's Bazaar and Tatler.
Each design focuses on a different aspect of Belmond’s world, from their beautiful heritage hotels, stunning trains, exciting journeys and exotic cruises, to the natural splendour of their resorts.
After putting together a selection of lettering samples to fit the brief, we settled on a relaxed brush script. I wanted to create a contemporary handwritten style to complement the illustrator, Lisa Rempilli's illustration and the dynamic 'travel journal’ layout. My aim was to capture a hand-crafted, artisanal quality, that's in keeping with Belmond’s iconic heritage hotels.
