I was delighted when Welsh Women’s Press, Honno, asked me to work on the book cover design for One Woman Walks Wales by Ursula Martin.
It was great to have the opportunity to work on the whole cover design, combining both illustration and hand lettering to convey the message of Ursula’s physical and mental journey as she traversed Wales, following a cancer diagnosis.
The hand drawn map featured on the front cover shows Ursula’s route as she walked across beaches and mountains, farms and urban sprawl. Her fascinating photographic record of her travels inspired my approach to the Welsh landscape, with evocative hues and textures extending from front to back cover.
