Lettering for Simple Minds Acoustic Album

It was great to be asked to continue my work for Simple Minds with some lettering on their latest album, Acoustic.

Taking the acoustic guitar as inspiration for the album design, Stuart Crouch Creative asked me to created the track list in a combination of scratched and marker lettering styles, harking back to the punk era.

Even with lettering as loose and anarchic as this, the design process remains the same. Starting with a range of initial ideas, the work is honed until the final lettering fits comfortably within the designer’s layout and remains legible, without loosing the raw, punk aesthetic.
