It was great to be asked to work on the Pretenders new deluxe edition 3CD box sets, Pretenders and Pretenders II, curated by Chrissie Hynde.
As with all my projects, working on a brief is an evolution of ideas, not all of which make it to the final design. In this case, I created some loose and wild disc numerals, along with some lyric-inspired hand lettering to work alongside the band photos.
The striking album design is by Stuart Crouch Creative, who asked me to contribute lettering to specific layouts, I particularly love the red visual above. If you have the box sets, you'll know that the lyric lettering didn't make it to the final cut but I thought it would be interesting to include it here, as part of the design process that most people don't get to see.
